2025年11月27日に、ROLES研究会「ユーラシア諸地域の内在論理」座長の川島真 東京大学大学院総合文化研究科教授が、エストニアの国際防衛安全保障センター（ICDS）主催のウェビナー「死活的海底ケーブルの安全保障と防御：日本と北海・バルト海地域の共通の挑戦と共有される教訓（Critical Underwater Infrastructure Security and Protection in Japan and in the Nordic-Baltic Region: Shared Challenges, Joint Lessons）」に登壇し講演しました。川島真教授と共に、日本側は北川敬三・慶應義塾大学総合政策学部教授が登壇・講演しました。
ROLESでは2024年2月にエストニアを訪問団が訪れて2月10日にラウンドテーブルを開催したのを皮切りに、ROLESメンバーによるICDS主催のセミナーでの講演や、ウェビナー等での講演で、ICDSとの協力関係を深め、2025年2月19日には、ICDSのクリスティ・ライク所長来日の機会にラウンドテーブル「海のグレー・ゾーン：日本とエストニアによる地域とグローバルな文脈の双方での共通の脅威と協力の領域（Gray Zones at the Sea: Common Threats and Areas of Cooperation between Japan and Estonia in the Regional and Global Contexts）」を主催し、その際にも川島教授と北川教授にご登壇いただ来ました。
2025年9月10・11日には再びROLES訪問団がICDSを訪れて、双方のロシア・ウクライナ戦争および対中関係への認識を付き合わせる専門家ラウンドテーブルを開催しました。
