オンライン・国際セミナー(ウェビナー)を開催 イスラエルのシンクタンクとフェイクニュースについて

2021年8月30日に、国際ウェビナーを開催しました。

外交・安全保障調査研究事業費補助金「体制間競争の時代における日本の選択肢」の「中東・イスラーム世界のオルターナティブに関する分科会」(辻田俊哉・池内恵)が主導し、「新領域セキュリティの諸課題分科会」(小泉悠)が協力し、イスラエル大使館の協力を得て、イスラエルの国家安全保障研究所(INSS)のインバル・オルパズ研究員をゲストに迎えて、オンライン国際セミナー(ウェビナー)を開催しました。

How to Deal with Fake News and Disinformation: Latest Lessons from Israel and Japan
The rapid spread of “fake news” and large-scale disinformation campaigns has become a major challenge for many countries. For instance, many countries have attempted to cope with fake news regarding the COVID-19, and some countries have even faced foreign disinformation campaigns during their elections or in times of crisis. 
At this webinar, two distinguished speakers from Israel and Japan will share their practical knowledge of the latest situation and challenges in dealing with fake news and disinformation, individually and at the national level. Various cases will be introduced, including COVID-19 situation, the Israeli elections and the 2021 Gaza conflict. In addition, this webinar will focus on the complex ethical challenges related to Cyberpsychology, particularly the impact of emerging technologies on human behavior and national security policy.

About the Speakers
 
Ms. Inbal Orpaz
Inbal Orpaz is a researcher at Lipkin Shahak program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Israel, and a strategic consultant in the fields of innovation and start-ups and a public speaker. She is the founder of the "#WomanInTech" initiative to promote women in high-tech and a former senior high-tech correspondent for TheMarker, where she covered a variety of topics, including entrepreneurship and venture capital investments, the diversity in tech, the social role of high-tech as a growth engine, multinational companies and homeland security technologies. She was elected to the Forbes Under30 list for 2017 and to the list of the 100 most influential people in the Israeli high-tech of Geektime in 2015. She holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University. Her research interests include Post Truth and Fake News and she has conducted a variety of research, including how technology can help solve the problem of fake news.

Dr. Kazutoshi Sasahara
Kazutoshi Sasahara is an Associate Professor of School of Environment and Society at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech). His lab studies computational social science in order to understand human society as a complex system, connecting knowledge to innovation and value creation. Dr. Sasaharahas published extensively and presented papers on Social Data Science, Computational Social Science and Complex Systems Science. His latest book is The Science of Fake News: The Mechanisms of Spreading Rumors,Conspiracy Theories and Propaganda (Kyoto: Kagaku-Dojin Publishing, 2021, in Japanese)

Yu Koizumi is a Project Assistant Professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), the University of Tokyo. His research interests include security policy of Russian Federation, international security and emerging technologies
 
Moderator: Satoshi Ikeuchi
Satoshi Ikeuchi is a Professor of Religion and Global Security at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) of the University of Tokyo and the Head of ROLES (RCAST Open Laboratory for Emergence Strategies). Professor Ikeuchi has published extensively on Middle East politics, Islamic political thought and global security challenges
