Emergency Preparedness and Digital Health Innovation Ecosystems: Countering COVID-19 Israel's strategic approach to COVID-19, including its rapid vaccination efforts and the digital healthcare ecosystem, has attracted great attention from around the world. At this symposium, Israeli experts and practitioners will share with us their practical knowledge on the current situation and challenges related to vaccination policy, and challenges of bridging the gap between health organizations and tech companies. Furthermore, this symposium will address opportunities and challenges related to emergency preparedness and response, as well as developing a digital, sustainable and resilient ecosystem.

About the Speakers
Dr Asher Yeshaihu Salmon
Dr Asher Yeshaihu Salmon currently serves as the Head of the Department of International Relations at the Israeli Ministry of Health. He is also a member of the OECD Health Bureau and of the Israeli National Health Council, and is a Focal Point for the WHO. His previous roles include Deputy Director of the Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Deputy CEO and Medical Director of the Barzilai Medical Center, and Head of the Oncology Inpatient Ward at the Sharett Institute of Oncology.
Yoav Fisher
Yoav Fisher is the Head of Digital Health Innovation at HealthIL – a joint venture of the Ministry of Economy, Digital Israel Bureau, and the Israel Innovation Institute, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Israel Innovation Authority. HealthIL is aiming to lead the Israeli Healthcare Innovation ecosystem and foster digital transformation of healthcare systems, in Israel and globally. Prior to HealthIL Yoav worked in venture for one of the leading healthcare VC’s in Israel.

Satoshi Ikeuchi is the Professor of Religion and Global Security and the Head of ROLES (RCAST Open Laboratory for Emergence Strategies) at the University of Tokyo. Professor Ikeuchi has published extensively on Middle East politics, Islamic Political issues, and global security challenges.

“Israel Week @UTokyo Komaba Research Campus” consists of a series of webinars on the recent trends and developments in Israel and its impact on Japan-Israel relations. The webinars in this framework will cover a broad range of topics, including the recent normalization of relations between Israel and Arab countries, security risks of digital transformation, policy responses to COVID-19 and the digital healthcare ecosystem, STEM education, Science & Design, and the comparative study of the Abrahamic religions.
It aims to provide an international forum for the exchange of ideas and inspiration from researchers and experts across different fields, and to seek opportunities for collaboration among the participants from academia, NPOs, industry, and the public sector.
