From June 8 to 11, 2026, a delegation led by Osman Bakar, President of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), visited Japan to coincide with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Japan and his lecture at the University of Tokyo. The delegation toured the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus and Komaba Research Campus.

In addition to Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, the delegation included Dr. Phar Kim Beng, Director of the Institute of International and ASEAN Studies (IIUM-IINTAS), a research institute belonging to the International Islamic University Malaysia.
