On June 9, 2026, a Letter of Intent (LOI) preceding an Academic Cooperation Agreement between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) of the University of Tokyo was signed at the Ito International Research Center on the Hongo Campus, in the  occasion of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to the University of Tokyo, a meeting with UTokyo President and a distinguished lecture there.
