国際セミナー「建築と外交」

東京大学先端技術研究センター（ROLES）は、イスタンブル工科大学建築学部で開催される国際セミナー「イスタンブルにおける建築と外交：イスタンブルにおける日本のプレゼンス、その起源と発展」に協力し、トルコ海洋研究財団(TUDAV）と共に共催します。

セミナーでは、ジラルデッリ青木美由紀助教授（イスタンブル工科大学）が主たる報告者・ホストとして議論を進め、池内恵教授（東京大学）、バイラム・オズトゥルク教授（イスタンブル大学）、パオロ・ジラルデッリ教授（ボアジチ大学）が登壇します。

イスタンブル・ギュムシュスユにある在イスタンブル旧日本国大使館・総領事館は、日本国が初めて中東に所有した在外公館です。これを歴史学・地政学・都市学・建築学・美術史学・国際政治外交学・海洋学の視点から解説し、トルコにおける日本のプレゼンスについて議論します。

この国際セミナーは、12月8日に東大先端研で開催したセミナー「イスタンブルにおける近代日本外交の来歴」の続編となるものであり、今後、関連するセミナー・シンポジウム・インスタレーション等を両国間で複数企画し、日本が近代の中東において「西洋列強」と伍していく過程を、物質文化や視覚的表象の側面から掘り下げていきます。

Announcement:

ROLES of the University of Tokyo invites you to an international seminar "Architecture and Diplomacy: Origins and Development of Japanese Presence in Istanbul" which is co-organized by ROLES in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV).

Miyuki Aoki Girardelli (ITU) will host Satoshi Ikeuchi (University of Tokyo), Bayram Öztürk (Istanbul University) and Paolo Girardelli (Boğaziçi University).

The Seminar will discuss the history and a possible new life of the former Japanese Embassy /  Consulate-General building in Istanbul through different perspectives: geo-politics, urbanism, architecture, art history,  international relations, maritime studies.
