Seminar “The Return of Great Powers – A Perspective from International History”
We are pleased to announce a small-scale seminar in Hiroshima featuring Professor Brendan Simms, a distinguished scholar of European diplomatic history and Director of the Centre for Geopolitics at the University of Cambridge.
Professor Simms will speak for approximately 40 minutes on the subject of his forthcoming book, provisionally titled The Return of Great Powers, after which we will hold a session for questions and open discussion.
In this book, Professor Simms examines the rise, decline, and resurgence of great powers from a broad historical perspective, addressing the dynamics of great power politics. He discusses Japan, France, Germany, and India—countries that are regaining their status as great powers while facing certain constraints—alongside the four major powers that once served as the “Four Policemen”: China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The seminar will be conducted in English. We warmly welcome your participation.
